This is a clearly written and authoritative introduction to effective teaching, by two leading authors and researchers in their field. I can imagine myself and my students dipping into this repeatedly in the future, to look for up to date information about areas as diverse as effective classroom management and classroom climate, questioning skills and direct instruction.

A recommended read to those studying on the Foundation Degree in Educational Practice. This publication provides various topics to reflect upon in the classroom environment. Good ‘reflective points’ throughout the chapters to encourage the reader to reflect on their own teaching experiences to improve practice overall.
A very clearly written and comprehensive learning and teaching text book.
I like the 'think points' and the fact that answers to these are supplied at the back of the book. The reflective questions are useful to help teachers consider theory to practice. The content is written logically and enables the reader to interact with it. There's a good list of references to enable further research.
