`It is a useful and practical resource which, even if not used for the purposes of staff development, contains helpful insights into something we often talk about but rarely stop to examine' - Adult Learners
Understanding learners is essential for all teachers and lecturers. Low self-esteem is a major issue with adult learners, this book covers a vital topic.
This book was very broad in it's breakdown of strategies to build Self-Esteem.
Although well presented did not feature any supplimental information or concepts. Good read however.
The ideas in this book seem pertinent to many adult learners in HE, insofar as it is still the case that many adult learners are first generation university students. As such many of them lack confidence in their abilities, which is a barrier to learning, particularly in the early stages. It may be that some of the ideas in this book would appeal to adult learners as strategies for self-reflection and the development of self confidence.
