"a major step towards describing the learning principles which should guide effective counsellor education...supplies a multitude of tested ideas for the translation of educational principles into practice."
“I can attest as a doctoral student whose class used Dr. Eriksen and Dr. McAuliffe's book this summer for my own course on Pedagogy... IT IS FANTASTIC! Not only has it significantly impacted the way in which we, as a class, view the content of education but the process as well. Kudos to Drs. Eriksen and McAuliffe for such great work!”
"The best book ever written on counselor education pedagogy: McAuliffe & Erikson, Handbook of Counselor Preparation. There is a chapter on teaching counseling theories, but the whole book is outstanding. I now view my career as a counselor educator in terms of before and after having read/taught the Handbook of Counselor Preparation: Constructivist, Developmental, and Experiential Approaches."
This is a GREAT text that really does an amazing job preparing CEs for their role in higher education.
One of the best texts I seen for counselor preparation. I will be recommending this book to doctoral students and adjuncts as an excellent resource in preparation for teaching new courses.
