'Loads of practical ideas for understanding and managing this age group in an FE context. Activities and summaries make it accessible to dip in and find some good ideas on a range of issues. Very useful for the lecturer meeting this age group for the first time, as well as the more experienced'
- Rob Long, Behaviour Specialist and Project Worker
This book offers lots of sound advice.
Contains some useful information and strategies but although it is aimed at managing behaviour in FE I didn't feel it addressed all of the causal factors for behaviour issues.
This is a great book which is full of practical advice which is also relevant to other sectors of Education.
Highly recommended reading for the Understanding and Managing Behaviour unit of the CET.
Dave Vizard is always good, his down to earth approach and easy to follow examples make this a great book for student teachers.
Up-to-date and relevant content for new FE teachers
Good, up-to-date case studies and references to academic studies. This book will help new teachers trial and develop strategies for dealing with some of the major behavioural issues we see in FE today.
Although targeted at FE this book is also useful for students and teachers of other age groups as many ideas are relevant across the age ranges. It gives great practical ideas for managing student behavior.
This book is a great tool for the dreaded misbehaviour in class. A must for any student studying teacher training. "How can I manage my class and bad behaviour?" Is a question I am asked regularly in my profession. This book gives you insight, ideas and tasks to think about in order to perfect your lessons.
The layout is easy to follow, some areas are covered a few times but this is helpful in so far as we can see that challenging behaviour can be turned round with several methods. There is a great section at the back of the book with activities too. This book is a must.
