January 19, 2016

London, UK. SAGE, a world leading independent and academic publisher, is delighted to announce the launch of the European Stroke Journal (ESJ), the flagship journal of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO). The first issue is to be published in March 2016.

A professional non-profit organisation, the ESO has over 1,400 individual members, and affiliations to numerous related national and international societies. ESJ covers clinical stroke research from all fields, including clinical trials, primary and secondary prevention, diagnosis, management, translation of experimental findings into clinical practice, rehabilitation, organisation of stroke care and societal impact.

ESJ Editor in Chief, Bo Norrving remarked on the journal launch:

“Through ESJ, authors and researchers have gained a new platform for the rapid and professional publication of peer reviewed scientific material of the highest standards. In partnership with SAGE, a publisher closely aligned to our editorial mission of disseminating high-quality research to the academic community, we are confident that we will achieve these aims through the journal, and have a profound impact within the field.”

Kennedy Lees, President of the ESO, added:

“One of our major objectives last year after the success of the ESO conferencewas to create our own journal with the aim that it would open its pages in early 2016. We are delighted to be partnering with SAGE as it is a leading medical journal publisher with a strong reputation and understanding within the field. We are excited by the opportunities for development that SAGE offers and together we look forward to seeing the journal grow and flourish.”

Karen Phillips, Editorial Director, SAGE, additionally commented:

“We are delighted that the ESO has chosen to launch what will be its flagship journal with SAGE which we believe is a testament to the strength of our growing medical journal portfolio and our ability to launch and establish new journals. We greatly look forward to working with both the editorial board and the ESO to develop the journal as it begins publication early this year.”
