This insightful work on management is at the same time quite challenging - in my opinion - for students not familiar with traditional and critical management theories and perspectives. Interesting refernces to recent studies on different management topics abound in the book, therefore, I used this book not as a Course literature, but I reccomended it for students working on their Bachelor and Master Thesis as well as PhD.

Content is updated both in terms of theory and practical examples.

Chapters 1 – 4 are substantially rewritten.

Chapter 1 is now split into 2 chapters, with a greater emphasis in Chapter 3 on managing as identity-work. And as a reflexive, relational and moral practice.

Chapter 2 on language has more examples and is rewritten to make complex but crucial ideas more accessible.

Chapter 4 is restructured around a critically-reflexive examination of the dark side of organization culture as a ‘cult’ and a more relational and responsive way of managing culture as communities of difference.

Chapter 5 is updated with current examples and rewritten to make complex ideas more accessible to students.
