Christiana K. McFarland National League of Cities, USA

Christiana K. McFarland is the Research Director of the National League of Cities. As Research Director, her responsibilities include managing the entire research agenda including survey research, trend analysis, data visualization and research partnerships. She is the principal author of NLC’s City Fiscal Conditions which is the only annual source of municipal sector data and trends. Her research on economic development, city data efforts, and municipal finance has been published in Economic Development Quarterly, Public Administration Review, Urban Affairs Review, Public Sector Digest, International Public Management Review, and Canadian Journal of Regional Science. She has a BA in Political Science and Economics and Master of Public Policy from the George Washington University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in urban planning/economic development from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
