Joya Misra is Professor of Sociology and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts, and Editor of Gender & Society. She has been teaching gender for over 20 years, and has a great deal of experience as an editor, both with Gender & Society, and as a co-editor of two book series, including Pine Forge’s Sociology for a New Century. She has published articles on teaching undergraduate students for Teaching Sociology and American Sociologist, and co-edited a teaching resource collection on teaching Race/Gender/Class for the American Sociological AssociationA number of her syllabi and course assignments have also been published as ASA teaching resources collections, including in TRAILS. She is engaged in a number of writing projects, including a project on gender wage gaps, a project on retail employment, and a project on advancing the representation of women and underrepresented minorities in the academy.
