Suthiphand Chirathivat Professor (Emeritus), Chulalongkorn University, Thailand
Suthiphand Chirathivat is an Executive Director, ASEAN Studies Center, Chairman, Chula Global Network, and an Emeritus Professor of Economics at Chulalongkorn University. Until recently, he was a Dean, Faculty of Economics, Chairman of the PhD Program in Economics, Chairman of Economics Research Center and Center for International Economics at Chulalongkorn University.Professor Suthiphand previously held a position as Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Transport and Communications, thus including Economic Affairs Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Thai Parliament. He represented Thailand for the East Asia Expert Study Group (ASEAN+3 until 2009) and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership in East Asia (ASEAN+6 until 2010). He was recently in the Advisory Committee for the ASEAN 2030 project, run by the Asian Development Bank Institute and other research projects supported by the ASEAN Secretariat.
His academic interests involve the issues related to international trade, investment, finance, regional integration and development, and new emerging issues in Asia in relation to the global economy and society. He had also published numerous articles in journals and books. He is an advisory board member of the Asian Economic Journal and was the editor of Chulalongkorn Journal of Economics, advisory board of ASEAN Economic Bulletin, and Asian Business and Management.
Professor Suthiphand holds a Doctorate en Economie from the University of Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris I. He also serves as Honorary President of the Association of Former Student in France, Thailand and was a Vice President of Economics Discipline, National Research Council of Thailand.
