A wide variety of factors impact on the scope of nursing practice, including government policies, organisational structures, the media, education, future healthcare directions and service users themselves. This is an excellent introduction to the complexity of contemporary nursing practice. It is a particularly useful resource for first year students of nursing but students at all levels will find individual chapters helpful. The quality of the presentation is such that students can easily and independently follow the learning activities, which are further supported by direction to other learning resources.
