SAGE Publishing Expands Course Material Options for Students through Inclusive Access
SAGE Publishing, an independent publisher of preeminent learning material created in partnership with expert authors, today announces a new option for students to access SAGE content early and at a lower cost. Labeled “inclusive access,” the program allows students to pay a significantly discounted fee for digital and print course materials such as textbooks and ancillary course content that they can access on or before the first day of class.
“SAGE Publishing is committed to supporting student success not only by publishing the highest-quality content from by expert authors, but also by providing this content in the formats that students prefer,” commented Michele Sordi, Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. College at SAGE Publishing. “Our goal with the inclusive access option is to increase affordability, accessibility, and achievement for students and to support instructors and institutions as they champion student success. We are encouraged by early results from the Inclusive Access initiative and look forward to partnering with universities to grow the program.”
SAGE is launching the program in partnership with campus bookstores, ebook vendors VitalSource, Redshelf, Follett, and Barnes & Noble, and tens of thousands of students across the U.S.
William T. Horner, Director of Undergraduate Studies, at the University of Missouri, commented on his use of the program:
“I have found inclusive access to be important for two primary reasons. First and foremost, it saves students a significant amount of money and I feel an obligation to try to save students money. I have been very happy with the lower book prices for students through the program here at the University of Missouri. Second, and just as important, I think that inclusive access ensures that more students actually get the books, and if they have the books, it increase their chances of reading the books. Cutting out the need to go to the bookstore, making the books automatically available to the students, seems to me to have increased reading of assignments and, therefore, has helped student performance in my classes.”
