Each monthly issue of Journal of Child Neurology (JCN) embraces interdisciplinary and peer-reviewed clinical and investigative studies from a wide-variety of neuroscience disciplines, including child neurology, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric neuroradiology, child and adolescent psychiatry, pediatric neuropsychology, developmental and behavioral pediatrics, and developmental neurobiology. Articles in JCN cover topics ranging from assessment of new and changing therapies and procedures; diagnosis, evaluation, and management of neurologic, neuropsychiatric, and neurodevelopmental disorders; pathophysiology of central nervous system diseases; and neuroradiologic and imaging evaluations. Focusing on the special needs of neurologic patients from birth to age 18 years, JCN offers highly-cited cutting-edge original articles and case reports (brief communications) written by leading international specialists. Each issue highlights the topics useful in everyday clinical practice, such as:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Behavior Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Autism
  • Brain Development and Malformations
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Epilepsy and Febrile Seizures

  • Tumors

Each year, Journal of Child Neurology offers a special issue featuring state-of-the-art review articles from the NIH-funded “Neurobiology of Disease in Children” symposium at the Child Neurology Society annual meeting and access to these articles is free online during the following year. Previous topics include: Childhood Ataxia (2012), Cerebrovascular Disease (2011), Muscular Dystrophy (2010), Injury to the Preterm Brain and Cerebral Palsy (2009), Central Nervous Systems Tumors (2008), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (2007), Tourette Syndrome (2006), Rett's Syndrome (2005), Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (2004), Leukodystrophies (2003), and Neurofibromatosis (2002). Aims and Scopes

Journal of Child Neurology (JCN) embraces peer-reviewed clinical and investigative studies from a wide-variety of neuroscience disciplines. Focusing on the needs of neurologic patients from birth to age 18 years, JCN covers topics ranging from assessment of new and changing therapies and procedures; diagnosis, evaluation, and management of neurologic, neuropsychiatric, and neurodevelopmental disorders; and pathophysiology of central nervous system diseases.

This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics.

This journal recommends that authors follow the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals formulated by the International Committee on Medical Journal Editors (ICJME).

Please read the guidelines below then visit the JCN submission site http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cnjournals to upload your manuscript. Please note that manuscripts not conforming to these guidelines may be returned. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scopes of JCN will be reviewed.

As part of the submission process you will be required to warrant that you are submitting your original work, that you have the rights in the work, that you are submitting the work for first publication in the Journal and that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere and ahs not already been published elsewhere, and that you have obtained and can supply all necessary permissions for the reproduction of any copyright works not owned by you.

    Full Author Guidelines

    General Instructions

All submissions (including invited material) are subjected to peer-review. Authors are invited to submit original material of all types for consideration. All material must be submitted online at the SAGETRACK ScholarOne website http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/cnjournals. New authors should use the ‘‘Create Account: New users click here’’ button at the submission website. After entering the website, go to the ‘‘Corresponding Author Center’’ to submit manuscripts, using the ‘‘Click here to submit a new manuscript’’ button. Manuscript text and tables must be prepared and submitted only in Microsoft Office Word (MSWord) document format (saved as ‘‘.doc’’ or ‘‘.docx’’ files). Files to be uploaded should be complete final versions of text of the article (including abstract and keywords), tables, and figures (photographs, art work, or line drawings); do not insert existing figures into the MSWord document file. At the completion of the upload of each file, a confirmation window will appear asking for a description of the file (for the main document, use language such as ‘‘article text’’ or ‘‘main document’’; for figures, indicate a figure number, such as ‘‘Figure 1’’; and for other supporting materials, indicate clearly what the file is). After completion of the upload of all materials, authors must confirm the proper order of the submitted materials and that the PDF version created by the website accurately reflects all the submitted materials.

If you or your funder wish your article to be freely available online to nonsubscribers immediately upon publication (gold open access), you can opt for it to be included in SAGE Choice, subject to the payment of a publication fee. The manuscript submission and peer review procedure is unchanged. On acceptance of your article, you will be asked to let SAGE know directly if you are choosing SAGE Choice. To check journal eligibility and the publication fee, please visit SAGE Choice. For more information on open access options and compliance at SAGE, including self/author archiving deposits (green open access) visit SAGE Publishing Policies on our Journal Author Gateway.
