This continues to be our core text for Primary and Early Years English, language and literacy. We also use the chapters on language development and narrative and storying to support students on our Dialogic Talking and Learning undergraduate Educational Studies module.
This is a very useful guide to early language acquisition and learning for new practitioners. I particularly liked the learning and teaching suggestions which show how theory can relate to practice. The summary boxes provide useful reference points and the section on emergent writing is a particular strength of the book.
Multiple copies have been requested as an addition to our library stock. Nice digestible (student friendly) information that informs good practice in the early years.

This is a very good text that introduces students to the links between language and literacy in a very accessible form. It is well suited in supplementing and complementing the undergraduate psycholinguisitcs and literacy course
