"Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks is the one book I would most recommend to inexperienced academic authors in the humanities or social sciences who seriously wish to see their scholarly work in print. Other books may be quicker to read, but I doubt if any would ultimately prove to be as effective."
"While addressing the sometimes-unsearchable field of scholarly writing and publishing, Wendy Belcher uses unpretentious, contemporary, and even witty prose that is simultaneously captivating and informative."
"Thorough, beautifully organized, and humane. This is a welcome light on a dark process."
"Belcher's book uses an interactive format to help writers develop a manuscript for submission from a pre-existing text such as a dissertation/thesis... When I used this book to teach writing for publication, doctorial students responded enthusiastically to the format and tone, which bolstered their confidence and enabled them to confront displacement activities."
Essential guide for publishing papers.
I recommend this book to my doctoral dissertation students as a supplement to assist them in their dissertation journey.
I will use this book for my course in order to assist my students in developing a publishable article.
Title a litte misleading perhaps, but otherwise a good starter text for students considering publishing their rersearchh.
The book is well written, easy to follow all steps in order to prepare papers for publication. I would like to recommend it specially for graduate students, who have english as a second language.
Good step by step guides and templates.
A good book overall, more for personal use. Just not needed as a requirement for students for the courses I teach right now.
A great book for both motivating scholars and students and providing a practical strategy for getting writing down.
This book was perfect for our graduate course, "Writing for Publication." Using this book, I have had two students who have successfully published articles.
The topic of the course I am teaching is advanced academic writing, and Belcher's book presents a practical, step-by-step guide to academic writing. The author tackles many of the difficulties encountered during the writing process, and provides answers to most essentials questions pertaining to writing and publishing journal articles.
I am using it as a way to help my graduate students to experience success in submitting an article for publication. We are currently using the text and finding it very helpful.
Tried this out for master's design students, but better suited to PhD or entry-level profs.
For graduate students to use as they planned writing goals.
To be used writing workshops for junior faculty who are in the tenure process and publication is a necessity.
I used this text on my Geo-Politics of Race. It was an essential tool for working with graduate students of how to turn research assignments into a paper for submission to a journal for review. I plan on using it again in the near future.
