An absolute must-read for any trainee or qualified counselling psychologist seeking to update the core of the profession's identity
The Handbook is comprehensive up to date textbook that helps to confirm counselling psychology as a unique discipline both theoretical and applied.
This third edition is a very much up to date handbook which informs of recent developments in the field of Counselling Psychology relevant to all Counselling Psychologists as well as trainees.
This Handbook provides the reader with an accessible and engaging text which does not overwhelm with the intracacies of the topic area but leads the reader on a journey of discovery and exploration. A good read for an important topic.
Excellent book that includes many useful elements. Needs to include something about EMDR for the next edition though
This is an excellent book to supplement Dryden's Handbook of Individual Therapy. It is comprehensive in its coverage and the expertise of the authors shines through.
Have used and studied similar handbooks, which were preferential to this i.e. The Sage handbook of counselling and psychotherapy
Many people struggle with defining counselling psychology so it is good
to have a definitive text specifically for the discipline. Introduces much relevant material that the reader can follow up in more detail.
Ray Woolfes book fills an obvious gap in the literature with clear linkage between the worlds of applied psychology and that of 'the talking cures'. Each mode, model and interpretation (including those not frequently encountered) is systematically examined and the psychological undercurrents and relationships laid bare. A fantastic work to keep 'at hand'.
Excellent resource for final year undergraduate counselling students.
Fantastic resource. As a Counselling Psychologist in academia, I will be advising students to purchase this book.
Complete handbook for counsellors in training and their tutors.
An essential resource, packed with useful information and addresses many of the issues new trainees face during training.
I found this book would be easily accessible to a range of students across the levels on the course. This would make an exellent supplement to the indicative text on the course throwing more clarity to the large fields within the profession of counselling, psychotherapy and counselling psychology
This is a handbook suitable for postgraduate training in counselling psychology- I am working with undergraduates and now with an applied Masters that will have 2 modules on counselling. But I refer students to certain chapters on theoretical approaches.
A comprehensive and well organised resource. Good to see the inclusion of the interface between psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Recommended for students at more advanced levels of study.
useful text for reference for primary care clinicians who refr for counselling
An essential handbook for all trainee counselling psychologists.
This edition ismuch improved on the previous edition
Sections are organised very well
Good depth of analysis on professional and ethical issues
Excellent inclusion of sexual identities
A comprehensive well edited book.
This book offers a detailed description of new areas of counselling ie neuro science ,narrative approaches etc . However I believe that it is suited to more advanced students, ie postgraduate or practicing counsellors
