'This is an important contribution to the field of SEN. By putting the child into a context, the authors recognize that each child is unique and cannot be reduced to a simple diagnosis. Highly recommended' - SEN Magazine
A useful book providing a clear overview of developmental disorders and co-occurrence. Use of real-life case studies are effective as students relate well to them. The photocopiable strategy checklists are good as I have used them as supplementary handouts and also as starting points for discussion and activities. The questions for reflection spark discussion and students can follow up their debate by researching underpinning theory to support their arguments.
Excellent comprehensive articluation of the subject
Although the book is useful in developing strategies in the classroom, the research is now quite out of date. We would be very interested to see a new edition which incorporates more up to date research.
Lots of ideas and clear format making it easy to navigate.
A useful book providing a very clear overview of developmental disorders. The case studies are effective in sitting the concepts within 'real world' examples. Helpful strategy checklists included, which are photocopiable.
A very good resource for students studying the foundation degree in learning support.
A valuable book highlighting the ever increasing incidence/awareness of overlapping conditions.
Easy to use book. Informative and well written. Would suit many students across wide range of levels
A really useful addition to any course looking at developmental disorders.
