This book provides a comprehensive overview of classical and current theories and debates related to program evaluation. It is coherent and consistant in its structure, and well written.

The book provides an updated examination of current evaluation theories and traces their evolution and inter-connection. The way in which these evaluation theories grew to form a 3D tree helps to provide a better understanding of the method, value and use of evaluation. In addition to the editor's overview, the book contains essays by leading evaluation theorists. In these easays, the evaluators comment on their own development and give their views of their placement upon the tree.
