I will recommend this to fellow academics who are learning to teach. The content is useful for theoretical essays and there is advice given on implementation of concepts in classroom practice. Most of the main teaching modes (lectures and tutorials) are covered in detail.
Would recommend this to students who are undertaking their research in educational settings, but not always appropriate given its pedagogic focus. Great for me as a lecturer, though!

The book focussed on seminars and lectures, with very little on flipped classrooms, on-line or distance learning. The assessment sections were also very traditional and rather dated, focussing on exam and essay marking.
Wanted a book which was more use to teachers & students, not just academics
A very straightforward handbook about lecturing in higher education. Simple and easily accessible with some great ideas and a re-assuring tone.

An excellent introduction to Higher Education teaching and students' learning. It takes a nuanced and critical approach to Higher Education learning and teaching whilst providing research-informed reflective andragogical approaches to adult learning.
This text is a good supportive text for students in preparing their activities within a PGCert Ed. Its a helpful, how to guide, providing a useful checklist for the novice teacher in HEI. It encourages the student to try different approaches and set up theiur learning more effectively
This book keeps things simple, some good ideas many of which are common sense but easy mistakes to make when worrying about creating the perfect lectures and seminars.
Good for support reading;suitable for PGCE students.
