‘The inclusion of the fictional family makes the rather dry subject of anatomy and physiology come alive. As this is not hospital but patient based, it also gives the book a health focus which is often missing. The interactive nature of the book and the four stages of learning are also features that I particularly like - it recognises the different ways in which students now learn.’
‘Nursing students will benefit enormously from the clear explanations, informative videos, colourful diagrams and simple and easy to remember definitions of key concepts.’
‘A well-presented and clear book that should enable student nurses at all levels to establish a sound understanding of A&P related to clinical practice.’
‘The use of patient case studies and links to practice is something that has been less clearly focused upon in other A&P textbooks and will be extremely helpful in making the concepts within A&P 'real' for student nurses.’
‘A clear strength of this book is how it situates anatomy and physiology within a philosophical framework of nursing care (namely the Person-Centred Practice Framework of McCormack and McCance, 2016). Anatomy and physiology are often taught separately from the psycho-social aspects of care. This can make it difficult for students to apply and integrate their knowledge of human anatomy to patient care. The philosophical framework developed by the authors of this book will go a long way towards developing truly holistic nursing care.
An excellent resource where the key topics are delivered in a clear and comprehensive manner. Access to H E. Students have found this very useful to develop their understanding of Anatomy and Physiology
The team in consultation with our learners chose this as our preferred textbook to support their anatomy and physiology study. They particularly enjoy its relevance to health care practice and the way its information relates clearly to health, illness and disease. It has been the most popular and accessible textbook we have used in science for some time. Highly recommended. Additionally several learners have purchased the associated colouring book to aid their memory prior to end tests and exams. A really useful pair.
This resource is especially useful when used in conjunction with the interactive e-book. The video clips and person-centred approach complement the teaching and learning opportunities for students; enabling all adult learning styles to be accommodated.
Really good pre-sessional support for our science modules
Excellent book for undergraduate students, whether , ODP, Nurses or other. This essential reading and an asset.
excellent use of case studies which students can use throughout the course and use for 'apply' and 'evaluate'
This book is an excellent resource as it explains anatomy and physiology simply and has colourful diagrams. It is unique in the use of a fictional family that you can relate your understanding to. It also has sections on terminologies and abbreviations to assist student nurses.
Not child specific but a useful text otherwise.
A good overview of Anatomy and physiology, put into a clinical content for nursing students. This is an easy book t use, and uses clinical and physiological language but in such a clear and concise manner it is easy to understand even for those at the beginning of their training.
The cross-referencing of physiology helps avoid the temptation for students to try to understand systems in silos. However, there are some typos and Q3 in the endocrine system quiz has a wrong answer! Insulin does not raise blood sugar.
This book provided practical application of a topic that many pre-reg nursing students struggle with. The fact that the authors are from a nursing background is evident throughout and provides scenarios that they can relate to.
Easy to read and follow, useful for those wishing to recap or start your learning.
The content is delivered in a logical and clear way that will support students to link theory to practice giving them a sound knowledge base to support their clinical decision making
This is an excellent foundation text, and its real strength is the use of the family case study to apply concepts. An invaluable textbook
Well written and excellent resource, for students in the allied health profession
