A good start suggesting the definition of critical pedagogy in enabling students to see their academic learning from a particular perspective. Three key sections of theoretical background, practice with an accompanying resources section for further reading.
Explores key concepts such as community development, social capital, social change theory along with some key theorists.

Clearly written and presented, Beck and Purcell cover the main areas and provide a very sound platform for further reading and research.
