SAGE Journals Migration - Customer Checklist

The aim of this checklist is to support the transition of your SAGE Journals account to the new SAGE Journals Literatum platform.

The public launch of the new SAGE Journals platform occurred on Tuesday, December 13th. The new SAGE Journals URL is http://journals.sagepub.com. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with the new platform’s layout and perform the simple admin tasks on the new site as outlined below.

To reduce the risk of disruption, SAGE has migrated journal entitlements and IP addresses, EzProxy, and Shibboleth, where available. However, we strongly encourage administrators to double check this information as soon as possible after launch and notify us of any changes that need to be made. Our platform launched with the access control wall down to ensure no disruption to your access of content. The access wall will be raised on the evening of Monday, February 20th, 2017 (PST).

Changes to IP management

With the new SAGE Journals platform SAGE is also cleaning our customer IP data to remove duplication facilitating accurate COUNTER usage reporting and ensuring reliable entitlements to subscriptions. We are also introducing a rule to prevent new duplication of IPs.

Accounts may have more than one IP address or range associated with their account, but the duplication of IP address or ranges across multiple accounts is no longer permitted. Where SAGE has found IP ranges that are clashing, we have made our best efforts to associate it with the correct account when migrating them to Literatum. Please carefully check your IP’s and inform us of any changes that need to be made via our dedicated inbox at IPupdates@sagepub.com.

Administrator checklist for the new SAGE Journals site launch:

The new platform Account Administrator tool is located on the SAGE Journals site, under the Account Management area. Administrators will be able to run COUNTER reports and perform other basic admin duties via these pages.  Please contact us to receive a PDF of our Account Administrator User Guide.

Please complete the following actions:

a. Reset your admin password by clicking on “Forgot Password.” Your new admin username is the e-mail address we have on record. Alternatively, please use your current username as both the username and password (you will then be prompted to update your details). Should you receive an error, please contact us and we will update the e-mail address for you.

b. Once you are logged in as the administrator please check the following and inform us of any changes:

a. Your IP addresses

b. Your Shibboleth and Open Athens details

c. Your Open URL

d. Your SUSHI request URL, requestor and customer ID can be found under “Usage Reports”

c. Contact us to arrange Public Username and Password access, which is still offered for off campus access. However, these will need to be created at SAGE and then distributed by the library administrator. Please note that in order to prevent misuse of this method, each user of the public username and password will need to be a registered user of the platform via the Sign In option.

d. Construct a new WAYFLess link, should you use Shibboleth. You can use the template below:
