Advanced Composites Letters: Special Collection on Advanced Composites in Aviation

Advanced Composites Letters journal cover

To have your paper included, submit by August 31, 2019

Submit your paper.

Composite materials have been widely utilized in aviation due to their advanced strength and thermal properties as well as lower weight. This Special Collection aims to collect recent studies that investigate the manufacturing and mechanical aspects of advanced composites in aviation. Recent methodologies in composite production and different testing techniques for the structural response of composites are invited to represent current composite technology in aviation.

The manufacturing stage of composites is sometimes compelling since product properties are heavily dependent on manufacturing conditions. Manufacturing defects such as delamination, debonding, misalignment, porosity, voids etc. directly affect the structural health of products and therefore, flight safety is jeopardized during the service life of the products. To understand the root cause of defects in manufacturing, studies on non-destructive testing methods in aviation composites are also welcome.

Analytical, numerical or experimental approaches are invited however, numerical contributions with experimental verification are encouraged to provide the validation of numerical models.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Manufacturing methods
  • Structural testing
  • Dynamic response of composites
  • Vibration attenuation in composites
  • Functional composites
  • Smart materials
  • Analytical, numerical or experimental analysis
  • Functionally graded materials
  • Fibrous composites
  • Nano-composites
  • Carbon fiber composites
  • Textile based composites

Manuscripts submitted to this Special Collection will be peer-reviewed before publication.

Deadline for submissions: 31 August 2019
