I loved the book! I am a trainee teacher in my final year and this book would have been very useful to support me throughout my training! It is so easy to read, inviting pages and packed full of essential information. Lots of food for thought and I'm sure this will come in very handy for my NQT year in September!
Highly recommended – an accessible essential companion
As a lecturer in teacher education I can thoroughly recommend this book for anyone undertaking initial teacher training. The book is very accessible and Thompson and Wolstencroft provide clear explanations on theory, good practice and what it’s like to teach in the real world.
The practical approach and use of illustrations soften, demonstrate and demystify what are sometimes complex theories which some trainees find hard to get their heads around. I especially like the ‘in a nutshell’ feature.
The book is mapped to both the teaching standards for schools and the Education and Training Foundation Standards for the 14-19 and adult sector. This book will be going on my ‘essential read’ list for my students and it is highly recommended.
As the cover suggests this is truly a ‘companion for initial teacher training’ and if you buy it (in my humble opinion) you won’t be disappointed.
