Authorship guidelines

Authorship policies for Sage journals

At Sage, we follow the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) principles of authorship to ensure fair and transparent credit for all authors involved in the research. Here are some key guidelines to consider when submitting your manuscript to a Sage journal:

Journal of International Medical Research APC Discount

The Journal of International Medical Research (JIMR) publishes high-quality studies across all areas of preclinical and clinical medical research.

Corresponding authors in your country who submit a paper on or before 30th June 2025, will receive a preferential rate of $3200* (if your paper is accepted after peer review). Note this is a limited-time promotion within your country. We will acknowledge your discount upon manuscript submission – no code is needed, but you can mention this promotion in your cover letter if you wish.

Sage Chinese Author Gateway

At Sage we want to support you in your journey to successful publication of your research. Please see below for more information to help you through that journey.

We hope you can find everything you need in this portal, however if you have any questions please contact us with your query, and we will respond within 24 hours.

Indexing & Discoverability

At SAGE, we take seriously our obligation to ensure readers get to the SAGE content they need as smoothly and effectively as possible wherever their starting point and regardless of their device. We tackle discoverability for our products in 4 key areas: open web discovery, institutional discovery, specialized database discovery, and across-SAGE discovery.

Ethics & Responsibility

Sage is committed to upholding the integrity of the work we publish. The value of academic publishing relies on everyone involved behaving ethically. The following points are only intended to give a broad overview and are not exhaustive.

Working with Your Reviewers

Peer review is central to the process of scholarly publishing, providing authors with valuable feedback on their work, acting as a quality control and informing the editor’s decision-making process.

Increasing Citations and Improving Your Impact Factor

What You Can Do to Increase Citations and Improve Your Impact Factor

Quantitative metrics are important in the evaluation of scholarly research as universities, governments, and funding bodies try to find ways to make their hiring, funding, and investment decisions based on measurable criteria. This has had a significant effect on journals publishing, with the well-known Impact Factor functioning as a ready-made, albeit controversial, indicator of the quality and significance of a published piece of work.

Complaints and Appeals Procedure

General Concerns or Complaints

Anybody wishing to raise a concern or make a complaint about any aspect of being published in a Sage journal or working with Sage or our publishing partners may email publication_ethics@sagepub.com.
