Open access publication is a means for researchers to be compliant with their funders’ mandates. Sage’s Open Access Prepaid Account (OAPA) allows institutions to support their faculty to publish research open access.
We are offering institutions the option to set up a prepaid account specifically to cover the cost of open access Article Processing Charges (APCs). An OAPA can be used to make articles open access in any Sage hybrid journal via our Sage Choice program or in any of our gold open access journals. Institutions purchasng APCs in bulk through an OAPA will receive a discount on the current APCs for Sage's hybrid and gold Open Access journals- ensuring your faculty receive a favorable rate for working directly through the institution's prepaid account.
An institution’s authors can access the funds in the account by providing Sage with the Open Access Prepaid Account code when the APC payment is due.
To discuss opening an Open Access Prepaid Account with Sage for your institution and find out more about available discounts, please contact OAPA@sagepub.com.
Sage gold open access articles are released under one of six Creative Commons licenses currently available. Though open access articles are free to access, the Creative Commons license assigned to the article will stipulate under what circumstances article content can be copied, adapted, displayed, distributed, republished or otherwise re-used. Individual license information for each article is provided on the article webpage and PDF cover page. More information on OA licensing and re-use requirements is also available here.
