The Journal of Public Health Research (JPHR) is an open access, single-blind peer-reviewed journal in the field of public health science. The aim of the Journal is to generate knowledge with direct relevance for improved health outcomes at population level.
As a generalist title in public health, the journal caters widely to the public health community, both in academia and in the field. We will consider any topic within the broad field of health sciences, providing the topic under study is meaningfully related to public health.
The journal welcomes contributions across professions, subject areas, and continents, and encourages multidisciplinary approaches to complex health challenges. As a scholarly journal, we place particular emphasis on scientific validity, including research ethics.
We are particularly interested in innovative approaches to public health research, including complex systems, mixed methods and new methodologies, real-world evidence, and emerging paradigms/frameworks for analysis of health outcomes.
Please note that we consider out of the journal scope:
· highly technical manuscripts (i.e. understandable only by a narrow range of specialists)
· manuscripts that are not meaningful for the broader analysis of population-level health
· manuscripts lacking novelty or with outdated content.
Before submitting, please consider the following, and ensure these points are made clear in your manuscript:
· The purpose of your research
· The context of your research within the existing literature
· The contribution and/or novelty of your research to the existing literature
· The target audience
· The overarching argument of your research
· The clarity and relevance of your article’s title in relation to the topic, article type, and geographical location
· The clarity of the abstract in communicating the research aims, methodology and results
If you are unsure whether your article is within the Journal scope, you may send a query letter to the Editor-in-Chief phj@sagepub.com. A positive response does not guarantee publication but will ensure that your contribution is suitable for peer review.
