Claudia von Vacano and Geoff Bacon, from the UC Berkeley Data Lab, discuss why data science is important to the social sciences and what social scientists add to this vibrant conversation. Claudia and Geoff, both instructors on Introduction to Data Science for Social Scientists, use their expert knowledge to demystify data science, illustrate the role that social scientists play within the data science landscape and provide hands-on examples through Jupyter notebooks. The presentation is followed by an audience question and answer session.
